Newsletter,                                                       Diane Banks.  Continuing to gather information, next letter will be insert with bulletin.

Pro-Life Committee     Mary Ernstmann.  Noted results of Amendment 2 were close and RTL is pleased with voter response.   MCC letter sent out to ask us to contact our legislators and hold them to their stated word that taxpayer funds would not be used for embryonic cloning. MCC letter circulated for all members to read and f/u with their representatives.

Council membership    Mary Ernstmann and Virginia Reyes will be leaving the SSMC due to term ending.  Thank you applause offered to both for all their service to the council.  Mary and Virginia have served on the SSMC council for 4 years.  Thank you for your dedication.  They both advised that they would be available to assist with projects and extra help, if needed, in our endeavors.

SSMC Secretary..                    Rick Jensen. Indicating Virginia had been secretary a new appointment was necessary.  Pat Filley volunteer to do notes even months and Judy will do odd months.

Member Recruitment                Rick Jensen.   According to the Parish Council Rick stated Fr. Tom has requested that each council have 6-12 active members.  Due to the response of the 2005-6 membership drive Fr. Tom has decided new member drives will be held only every other year.  But if a council drops below the 6 member level then that particular council will hold their own recruitment.

Parish Survey Report    Rick Jensen.  Rick reviewed with the council the items specifically related to SSMC.  Of those responding interest and sense of being informed regarding social needs ranked 87%; involvement with Ita Maura ranked 76%; and the work of community outreach ranked 88%.  We did not review the Time and Talent Survey.  Parishioners will receive a copy of the survey results in one of the December bulletins.

New Business:

Mary Ernestmann updated the council on the March for Life in Washington D.C. scheduled for January 22, 2007.  Those who are going by bus will be attending Mass at St. Regis on the evening of January 19 before they depart.  The suggestion was made that the SSMC coordinate the donation of ‘sack lunches’ for the travelers.  After discussion this idea was approved.  Mary Hunter and Pat Filley will co-chair this activity.  Georgia Zeller will write and mail a form letter to various parish organizations for donations of food and volunteers to help assemble the lunches.  The school children will be asked to decorate the lunch bags.

Judy Quatrocky will be out of town January 5-20.  As January 1 would be the first Monday of the month we will not have a council meeting.  Members are alerted that needs for soup kitchen, help with the ‘sack lunch’ project will be communicated via telephone.

As Feb. 6th is the All Councils Meeting we will not have a separate SSMC meeting in February.
