Caregivers report -
Bulletin note requested and will be submitted for coming weeks bulletin
to clarify and inform parishioners of this service. Generally, people seem
reluctant to use service, or are not aware of it. Of concern, with winter
weather and recent snow, needs existed for snow removal but unable at this time
to provide, Suggested discussion included asking Boy Scouts, confirmation
candidates, and recruiting at O'Hara for students in need of service hours.
Jennifer will speak with Scout couple, Mary Pat Storms already has been in
discussion regarding confirmation candidates and also putting notice on service
bulletin at O'Hara.
Ministries report -
CAC/St. Regis pantries low on several items, 379 people served during the
month of December. Discussion regarding soliciting more items and also
manning CAC weekend collection boxes. Volunteers determined for weekend of
January 19/20. Actual amount of money gathered at 3 rd weekend Masses is
inconsistent, may need more emphasis over the pulpit and in final announcements.
Hickman Mills Ministerial Alliance, had Ecumenical Advent Service at St.
Luke's Methodist but was poorly attended, approx 100 people. Another
Ecumenical Service will be scheduled during Lent, no date or place has been
determined. Bulletin notice will be made to encourage parishioners of St. Regis
to attend.
St. James kitchen ministry on track, Theresa VanPelt has her schedule
filled with volunteers through March 2008. Container for apples from school
children in place and Georgia will speak with Mary Bachkora about note in
school letter to parents.
St. Regis parishioners response to Christmas gift tree phenomenal. More
than 300 gifts collected, gifting 6 families in our community, 16 residents
at Good Shepherd Home who each received 3 gifts, and 36 residents at Blue Ridge
Nursing home each receiving 3 gifts. This was a very successful and appreciated
outreach, our thanks to our St. Regis family.
Discussion was given to beginning a birthday ministry to residents at
Blue Ridge Nursing Home. Georgia will make further calls to determine
feasibility due to resident dietary restrictions.
Discussion also circulated regarding the foster children program at
Crittenton and whether St. Regis might want to direct future Christmas giving
ministry to Crittenton. No final decisions or actions necessary at this time.
